Michigan Region - NCCC

From Our Regional ExecutiveGeorge Duncan, Michigan Region Executive

Hello and a Happy New Year to all Corvette enthusiasts. This is an interesting time in the Corvette world because not only is it the beginning of a new year and a new decade, it is also the beginning for the all new eighth generation of the Corvette. We can now place orders for a 2020 Corvette but, I am told that most of the initial production units are already spoken for. And, if that weren’t enough, for me personally, I am settling in as the new 2020 Regional Executive (RE) for the Michigan Region of NCCC.

With that said, I would like to thank our retiring RE, Mark Hanlin, for his years of service to the Michigan Region of the NCCC. Mark has helped many people, including myself, with learning about and enjoying what NCCC has to offer. Over the years, Mark has been a guiding light and has become a good friend for many of us. We will continue to see Mark as the governor of the Calhoun County Corvettes and at the events that he either organizes or attends. Again, thank you to Mark for all that you have done for us.

Also leaving the NCCC Michigan Region board is Brenda Shatkosky. Brenda has been the Treasurer for several years and has made great improvements to our financial record keeping. I would like to thank Brenda for her much appreciated service with this thankless and often difficult job.

I would also like to thank our returning NCCC Michigan Region Board members and directors that have worked so hard to make this organization what it is today. Dave Waters is our returning Regional Competition Director (RCD) and continues to help make all of our events a success. Joe Scafero is our returning Regional Membership Director (RMD) and he continues to help all of our Governors get their jobs done correctly and on time. Edna Stoel is returning as the Regional Secretary and will continue supporting the RE along with providing much of our needed documentation. Gloria Reiffer is our returning Webmaster and has done a great job with updating our website and helping the board with setting up email accounts specific to our positions. Sue Sweet is returning as our Points Director. Sue has always done a great job at keeping track of the competition points and organizing the awards. I know that there is much more that each of these individuals contribute to the organization and they all deserve a sincere thank you.

Finally, I would like to welcome Kathy Duncan as our new Regional Treasurer. Kathy is a fairly new member to our Corvette community and was gracious enough to take on this responsibility.

Moving on, it is winter in Michigan but, it has been unseasonably warm. So, I am still seeing an occasional Corvette on the roads. However, if you are like me, your Corvettes are most likely put away for the winter. The good part of this is that the winter months are slower and can be a good time to make repairs and do any needed maintenance on your Corvette. That way, the cars are sure to be ready for all the activities that start up in the spring.

In closing, I would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year.
